6 holes per row
Two rows

During a research on hoyito, which was conducted by Víktor Bautista i Roca in the Dominican Republic, other games were found. One was called voleur ("thief").

The game was recorded at La Descubierta, and the only source was Eduardo (49), a sports teacher born to Haitian and Dominican parents. He learned it in Port-au-Prince while studying at the Salesians of Jean Bosco school.

It is a children's game that is used to learn the basic rules of mancala games.

Rules

Voleur is a two players game.

It is played on a board made by two rows of six holes.

At the beginning each hole has four pieces.

board
Initial position

Each player controls the row closer to him.

Players take turns to move.

At her turn the player takes all the stones from a hole belonging to her side of the board, and sows them counterclockwise.

The player captures the contents of the last hole sown into.

The winner of the game is the player who has captured more pieces.

Variations to the rules

Another game also learned at La Descubierta (with just one source) is almost the same, but the player captures the contents of the hole where he has ended the sowing only if its contents are even.
